About the Luxor Archaeological Heritage Foundation

The Luxor Archaeological Heritage Foundation (Stichting Archeologisch Erfgoed Luxor) is a Public Benefit Organisation (Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling, Culturele ANBI) aimed at providing financial support for the Leiden University Mission to the Theban Necropolis. The foundation was established by notarial deed on September 26th, 2017 and is statutorily located in Leiden, The Netherlands.

Objectives

The objectives of the Foundation, as laid down in its Articles of Association, are:

a. to stimulate and subsidise the research carried out by the Leiden University Mission to the Theban Necropolis, with primary attention given to the fieldwork activities of this project, and including any research associated with the fieldwork activities of this project;

b. to bring the abovementioned research, as well as research of Ancient Egypt in general, to the attention of the donors of the Luxor Archaeological Heritage Foundation and of other interested persons;

c. to disseminate the research results of the Leiden University Mission to the Theban Necropolis and to facilitate the dissemination of said research and of research of Ancient Egypt in general.

d. In case the Leiden University Mission to the Theban Necropolis ceases to exist, the objectives of the Foundation are to stimulate and subsidise archaeological research carried out by Dutch and Flemish scientific institutes in Egypt.

Policy

In order to achieve its objectives, the Luxor Archaeological Heritage Foundation is dependent on the efforts of volunteers and on the financial support of sponsors and donors.

With the help of volunteers, the Luxor Archaeological Heritage Foundation develops various activities, such as publishing articles and books on the project, presenting lectures on the project, developing and maintaining the project website, and disseminating knowledge on Ancient Egypt to a wider audience.

In addition to the financial support of donors, the Foundation also receives funding from various funding institutions, both incidental and structural in nature.

The Foundation’s equity - all income after deduction of expenses - is at the full disposal of the research and fieldwork project.

Remuneration

The Foundation does not uphold a remuneration policy, since none of the Board Members receive recompense and because the Foundation does not employ any personnel.
